Mark Muller, a Swiss engineer, has plans to go on a 40,000 km trip around the world in his car that’s powered just by the wind and the sun. Yverdon Engineering School is also supporting this green project called ICARE Project. They aim to complete the wonderful journey in this eco car without releasing even a single gram of CO2. Solar panels will power the electric motor during the day, and when it is dark, a wind-powered generator will do the needful.

From the ICARE Project: This vehicle will allow the reporters to be “propelled” only by solar and wind power. This means of transport is not only environmentally friendly, but also fully independent: the energy available in the environment is sufficient to make this unique world journey possible. The vehicle’s mode of operation gives it a certain touch of magic and has attracted many admirers. The ICARE Team will visit different countries, cities and village

Just to ensure that the trailer used for carrying the equipment complies with the road safety standards, it was built before the actual vehicle. The car touting the most efficient and lightest possible wind turbine will aid Mark in traveling through 30 countries.

Some possible areas of concern: There are lots of uncertainties because even getting this far has been difficult and has taken a long time, and then there’s the journey and all the things that could go wrong: theft, accident, break-down… lots of things.

一些可能的难题——（此次旅行）还有很多的不确定性，不但因为ICARE项目事到如今，道路漫长，举步维艰，还因为在旅途中很多事情都会不期而遇：盗窃、车祸、机械故障，等等……

Project developer Mark Muller expresses himself while thinking about the imminent challenges. Still he is confident of achieving what the fabled character and the project’s possible namesake, Icarus, could not.

ICARE项目的开发者Mark Muller在想到面临的巨大挑战时，说出了上述的话。但是，他坚信能够完成这项与ICARE重名的神话英雄Icarus（伊卡洛斯）所未完成的任务。注：伊卡洛斯，是希腊神话中代达罗斯的儿子，使用腊造的翅膀逃離克里特島時，因飞得太高，遭太陽溶化跌落水中丧生。
